Hockey legend Wayne Gretzky turned 64 on Sunday. Birthday wishes poured in for arguably the greatest hockey player of all time. His wife, Janet, also penned a special wish for him on Instagram.
“Happy Birthday to the Greatest One in every way !!! You continue to be a very Special One to all of us ♥️ We all Love you !!!” Janet’s post read.
The post included a montage reel of pictures and video clips featuring Gretzky. Some photos showed him with Janet; others showed Gretzky during NHL commentary; one photo was from Gretzky's Basement Chicago, a pop-up experience selling Gretzky-themed memorabilia at Wrigley Field in Chicago.
Other photos showed Wayne and Janet at President Trump’s inauguration ball with Kash Patel, the prospective director of the FBI. The montage was rounded off with a picture of “The Great One’s” birthday cake.
The background during the montage featured legends Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett's famous hit “New York, New York.”
Gretzky remains the most prolific goal- and point-scorer in NHL history. He played for the Edmonton Oilers, Los Angeles Kings, St. Louis Blues and New York Rangers for 20 seasons and 1,487 games.
Gretzky's career totals of 2,857 points and 1,963 assists are lasting records. His goal total of 894 is expected to be surpassed by Washington Capitals forward Alex Ovechkin, who is 20 goals short of him. Gretzky, on the other hand, holds numerous additional records that establish him as the greatest hockey player of all time.
Gretzky won four Stanley Cup Championships with the Edmonton Oilers. He has nine Hart Trophies and 10 Art Ross Trophies. He also remains the only player to score over 200 points in a single NHL season.
Wayne Gretzky’s son Trevor wishes him a happy birthday
Gretzky's son Trevor also posted a birthday message on Instagram. The photo in the post showed Gretzky with Trevor and his other sons, Ty and Tristan, at the rink. Gretzky is wearing a St. Louis Blues jersey and full hockey pads in the shot, which was most likely taken at the 2017 NHL Winter Classic Alumni Game at Busch Stadium in St. Louis, Missouri.
“Happy birthday Dad ♥️Love you,” the post read.
Trevor played baseball in the minor leagues before following in his mother’s footsteps and becoming an actor and producer, appearing in films such as “Spiral”, starring Samuel L. Jackson. Trevor and his mother Janet also both acted in “American Siege.”
