What city has an NHL team that was initially named after a Disney movie?

National Hockey League (NHL) team Anaheim Ducks were initially named after a popular Disney movie. The club was founded in 1993 by the Walt Disney Club as the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, based on the 1992 Disney movie The Mighty Ducks.

The Mighty Ducks is a sports comedy-drama movie that follows a youth hockey team and their coach, who is doing community service for drunk driving. The NHL hockey team, known as the Anaheim Ducks today, initially participated in the league as the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim under the same logo inspired by the film.

In 2005, Walt Disney sold the club to the co-founder of Broadcom, Henry Samueli, and his wife Susan. They subsequently changed the team's name to the Anaheim Ducks before the 2006-07 NHL season.

Anaheim is a city located in southern California, approximately 26 miles south of Los Angeles. It is also home to popular theme park Disneyland. The Anaheim Ducks play their home games at the Honda Center.

The Anaheim Ducks compete in the Pacific Division of the NHL's Western Conference. Since the name change, the Anaheim Ducks have won one Stanley Cup, six division titles and have advanced to the Western Conference Finals twice.

How have the Anaheim Ducks been performing in the 2022-23 NHL season?

The 2022-23 season has not gone well for the Anaheim Ducks. The team currently sits seventh in the Pacific Division with a 23-37-10 record. They also have the worst goal differential in the league at -100. The team is in the middle of a rebuild and hopes to be a playoff contender in the next couple of years.

Trever Zegras leads the team in scoring, accumulating 22 goals and 36 assists (58 points) in 70 games this season. Their next best scorer is right winger Troy Terry. The 25-year old has recorded 20 goals and 33 assists in 63 games.
