Taylor Hall's Personal life and Career playing for Canada

Taylor Hall, the lone child of Steve Hall and Kim Strba, was born in Calgary. Midway through the 1980s, his father played in the Canadian Football League (CFL) with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, Toronto Argonauts, and Ottawa Rough Riders.

He then joined the Canadian national bobsleigh squad. His mother introduced him to organized hockey when he was five years old. During the winter, his father kept up a backyard rink where Hall and his buddies would practice nonstop.

His family relocated to Kingston, Ontario, in 2005, where he attended high school at Frontenac Secondary School. He continued his education while playing for the Windsor Spitfires at St. Anne's Catholic High School in Tecumseh, Ontario.

Taylor Hall was one of five 16-year-olds that represented Canada at the 2008 IIHF World U18 Championships in Kazan, Russia. With nine points in seven games, he placed seventh in the tournament scoring and contributed to Canada winning the gold. As Matt Duchene's backup captain at the 2008 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament in Slovakia, he rejoined Canada's under-18 squad to help them win a second gold medal.

In time for the 2010 World Junior Championships in Saskatchewan, Hall was selected for the Canadian national junior team. He was the only player chosen for the final roster to be eligible for the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.

Hall was selected as the tournament's all-star team at the 2015 World Championships. The senior Canadian team won the gold medal for the first time since 2007 with a perfect 10-0 record.

Taylor Hall competed at the 2016 World Championships, where Canada retained its gold medal.
