Erin Andrews's career as a reporter began with a little bit of difficulty. She struggled with the pronounciation of players' names while covering the Atlanta Braves for Turner Sports on TBS. However, she has come a long way since then and is now a top NFL sideline reporter for Fox Sports.

During an episode of the "Marchand and Ourand Sports Media Podcast," which aired on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, Andrews confessed that she lacked the necessary knowledge of baseball and confidence to host at a desk at the time.

"When I was given a chance, I struggled with mispronouncing names and keeping up with important details. Unfortunately, everything that could go wrong, did go wrong, resulting in a poor outcome. Nonetheless, I am grateful to Turner for providing me with the opportunity."

After completing her two-year contract, Andrews was not offered a renewal. She recalled how Charles Barkley warned TBS executives that they would regret the decision. However, she acknowledged that Turner made the right choice in moving on from her. Andrews also discussed her transition from ESPN to Fox Sports in 2012. She said that she spoke to several coaches and broadcasters about the move.

Once she knew that she was not going to be offered the "Monday Night Football" role, Andrews reached out to coaches like Mike Krzyzewski and Chip Kelly to inform them of her decision before it was made public.

Erin Andrews expressed that, if she had the chance to redo any moment in her sideline reporting career, she would choose her well-known interview with Richard Sherman in 2014. During the interview, the cornerback became agitated and began yelling about Michael Crabtree, a former wide receiver, into the microphone.

Erin Andrews' controversies and her fight with cervical cancer

By September 2016, Erin Andrews had established herself as a proficient television personality, reporting on college football games and working as an NFL sideline reporter for Fox Sports. She co-hosted "Dancing with the Stars" on ABC and was a household name among football fans.

However, Erin went through an emotionally exhausting civil trial against a hotel where she was filmed secretly while nude. After the case was settled, she was eager to move on and concentrate on her career. But an unexpected event briefly disrupted her life.

It was a Saturday morning, and Erin was in a meeting in New York preparing to cover the NFL Week 3 matchup on FOX when she received disturbing news from her doctor. After an inconclusive annual check-up over the summer, Erin's gynecologist recommended a follow-up test. When the results came back, Erin learned that she had cervical cancer and needed to have surgery as soon as possible.

Regarding her cervical cancer diagnosis, Andrews said:

"I work in a male-dominated industry, so it's not something you really want to talk about..."

Erin Andrews had her second surgery in early November. While sitting in her dressing room on the set of "Dancing with the Stars," Erin received a call from her oncologist just hours before the live show was due to start. The operation was successful, and she was cancer free.
