When Sidney Crosby was flamed by Penguins legend and Hall of Famer

In 2018, Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby broke a franchise record for the most postseason points, in Game 4 of the team's first-round series against the Philadelphia Flyers.

He surpassed Penguins legend and Hall of Famer Mario Lemieux's record of 172 career playoff points with a goal in the second period of the Penguins' 5-1 victory.

Sidney Crosby entered the game with 171 career playoff points, tying Lemieux's record with an assist on Evgeni Malkin's first-period goal. Crosby's achievement did not go unnoticed by Lemieux, who sent him a humorous message after the game. Crosby shared Lemieux's message:

"What took you so long?"

Crosby had joked earlier that Lemieux probably had a better points-per-game record "by a longshot."

"But it's nice to be a part of that."

Penguins goaltender Matt Murray also made history in Game 4. Murray became the fastest goaltender in NHL history to reach 25 career playoff wins with his fourth career postseason shutout.

He accomplished this feat in just 36 playoff games, establishing an NHL record for the fewest games to reach 25 playoff wins. Murray was humble about the achievement, calling it:

"Pittsburgh Penguins record, not a personal record."

Crosby's achievement and Murray's record are significant milestones in the Penguins' postseason history. They also speak to the team's strong legacy of success and the impressive players who have contributed to it.

Lemieux's humorous message highlights the camaraderie and respect shared among the Penguins' greats.

When Sidney Crosby shared the Stanley Cup

Sidney Crosby is a name synonymous with ice hockey, known for being one of the greatest players of his generation. But what many people don't know is that his kindness and generosity off the ice often goes unnoticed.

In 2016, after winning the Stanley Cup, Crosby demonstrated his selflessness by visiting a hospital for veterans and sharing his victory with those who had served their country.

During this visit, Crosby met a blind and bedridden Korean war veteran named Joe. Although Joe was a fan of the rival Montreal Canadiens, Crosby didn't let their team loyalties get in the way of bringing joy to someone who had given so much for his country.

Crosby brought the Stanley Cup over to Joe, grabbed his hand, and helped him trace his finger over where 'Rocket' Richard's name was engraved on the Cup.

This act of kindness and empathy towards a stranger speaks volumes about Crosby's character.
