It's been a rollercoaster week for Daniel and Carson Briere. On the heels of Daniel being named the new general manager of the Philadelphia Flyers, his son Carson was caught on camera throwing a wheelchair down a flight of stairs at a party. The Mercyhurst University player has drawn a lot of heat online after the security camera footage was leaked.
"I usually don’t post anything serious on my twitter but something happened Saturday night and just can’t stomach the thought of this kid getting away with it. In the video below is a @MercyhurstU student and is currently on the @HurstMensHockey team. Carson Briere." - @juliazukowski
Following the release of the video, Mercyhurst University released a statement condemning Briere's actions. They also announced that they have student conduct, as well as police and safety, investigating the incident.
According to reports, the wheelchair was at the top of the stairs because its owner needed to be carried downstairs to the bathroom. In the video above, Carson Briere, in the white hat, can be seen tossing the wheelchair to the bottom of the stairs with no regard for its owner.

While the moment was disgusting, this wasn't the first time Briere did something egregious. In 2021, Carson Briere was dismissed from Arizona State University's hockey team for violating team rules. After his dismissal, he eventually made his way to Mercyhurst University.
Although he has produced a solid level for the team, his history of off-ice issues may be a red flag for NHL teams looking at the promising forward. While it would seem to be something that a teenager would do, Briere is nearly 24 years old.
A look at the NHL career of Daniel Briere, the father of Carson Briere
Carson's father, Daniel Briere, was one of the most well-liked and respected players during his time in the NHL. He played for several teams, including the Buffalo Sabres and Philadelphia Flyers. It appears this sense of integrity did not carry over to his son Carson.
"Things to know about Carson Briere: 1. He's a nepo baby who was already kicked off one team for asshole behavior, so he's already gotten multiple chances. This is his second go around. So spare us the "he needs more chances to grow" comments. 2. He's 23, not a kid." - @laurawritesit
During his 17-year career in the NHL, Briere scored 307 goals while also recording 389 assists. He finished with 30 or more goals on four occasions, a career-high 34 goals during the 2010-2011 season with the Philadelphia Flyers.
