Skyler Brind'Amour is the oldest son of Carolina Hurricanes head coach and former NHL player Rod Brind'Amour. Rod Brind'Amour has four children, including his oldest son, daughter Briley, Reece and Brooks Edward.
Skyler, who was drafted 177th overall by the Edmonton Oilers in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft, currently plays for the Charlotte Checkers, the AHL affiliate of the Florida Panthers. He won the 2018 RBC Cup, Canada’s National Junior A Hockey Championship.
After being drafted, he played for the Chilliwack Chiefs of the BCHL for two years and four years of college hockey with Quinnipiac University where he did his BBA.
In his first year in college, he received the Quinnipiac men's ice hockey's Rookie of the Year honor. His exceptional final year opened the door for him to enter the professional ranks.
In the 2022-23 season, Skyler played a key role in helping the Quinnipiac University Bobcats win their first NCAA title. He was also named Gladiator ECAC Best Defensive Forward.
In April 2023, the Florida Panthers took notice of his skills and signed him to a two-year AHL contract with the Charlotte Checkers.
During the 2023-24 season with the Checkers, Skyler has played 54 games, scoring three goals and providing five assists.
Despite his father's impressive hockey legacy, which includes two Selke Trophy wins and over 1,100 career NHL points, Skyler had to work hard to get himself noticed by the Panthers.
