Sean Avery is a former professional ice hockey player. Avery, a left winger, has played for the Detroit Red Wings, Los Angeles Kings, New York Rangers, and Dallas Stars. On and off the ice, he is known for his aggressive demeanor. Avery worked as an intern at Vogue magazine after retiring from ice hockey.

Sean Avery is married to his gorgeous wife, Hilary Rhoda, who is a professional model. She is well-known for her work with the cosmetics company Estee Lauder. Sean was also featured in the Swimsuit Issue of Sports Illustrated in 2009, 2010, and 2011.

Sean and Hilary first met in 2009 at Warren 77, a Manhattan bar. They fell in love at first sight, as the couple later described. The couple had been dating for a long time before getting engaged on November 13, 2013. Sean and Hilary married on October 10, 2015, at New York's Parrish Art Museum.

However, the couple got separated after 7 years of marriage. Rhoda filed for divorce, citing 'irreconcilable differences' as the reason for their separation. The couple's official date of separation is listed as July 17 in court documents.

The duo have one son together named Nash Hollis Avery. Nash was born on July 28, 2020.

Sean Avery is attempting an impossible comeback

Over the course of his ten-year NHL career, Sean Avery accumulated 247 points. It was clearly not an inspiring offensive output, but it didn't have to be because Avery played a very different style of hockey.

Avery finished his career with 1,533 penalty minutes, leading the NHL in that category three seasons in a row (2003-2004 and 2005-2006). During those two seasons, he racked up 518 penalty minutes.

The Rangers demoted Avery at the end of his NHL career. He played in seven games for the Connecticut Whale of the American Hockey League in 2011-2012.

While Avery hasn't played in years, his role as an enforcer is becoming less important in the NHL by the day. Although to everyone's surprise, the 41-year-old was signed by the Orlando Solar Bears on 23rd February 2022 but was released by the team two days later. Sean Avery played his last game on Dec. 10, 2011 with the New York Rangers.

To make matters even crazier, Avery's stated goal is to return to the NHL and play for the Tampa Bay Lightning (the Solar Bears are affiliated with the Bolts). Returning to the NHL in general will be impossible, but wanting to play for the back-to-back Stanley Cup champions seems foolish.

It's also worth noting that Avery was a source of controversy as a player, most notably when he was suspended for six games in 2008 for making controversial remarks about an ex-girlfriend who was dating another NHL player at the time. It was one of the many squabbles of his career.

Sean Avery appears to have had no involvement with hockey since leaving the NHL. His post-hockey career has had nothing to do with the sport, so he enters this "comeback" completely unprepared in every way.
