NHL fans react as Los Angeles Kings rebrand with new logo

The Los Angeles Kings have rebranded with a new logo ahead of the 2024-25 NHL season. Over time, the Kings have had different variations of their logo, but LA has decided to go back to a retro version.

On Thursday, Los Angeles shared the new logo on social media which looks similar to their logo from 1988 until 1998.

Fans reacted to this new logo on social media.

"Nice! Bring back the Marcel Dionne UNIs," one wrote.
"I LOVE it when brands and teams do work like this. I love it. Such commitment to an incredible brand," a fan wrote.
"Love it. Can't wait to see the uniforms," a fan added.

Other fans, however, were disappointed in the rebrand.

"will the rebrand win you a playoff series?," a fan wrote.
"I miss the purple," a fan added.

Fans wanted to see the purple in the logo, as the golden and purple logo the Kings had is a fan favorite.

"Maybe could’ve added a little purple but not too bad. It doesn’t matter what the team colors are. Winning and the front of the jersey is more important," a fan wrote.
"I like it but why no purple and gold," a fan wrote.

Most reactions were positive about the Los Angeles Kings' logo change. Meanwhile, the most common complaint was the fact the team didn't go to the old purple logo.

Los Angeles Kings pull off a blockbuster trade

A day before the Los Angeles Kings changed their logo, the team announced a blockbuster trade.

The Kings traded forward Pierre-Luc Dubois to the Washington Capitals for goalie Darcy Kuemper. Dubois was traded to the Kings from the Winnipeg Jets last summer and signed an eight-year, $68 million contract.

However, Dubois struggled with the Kings, and LA general manager Rob Blake said it was a poor fit.

“Well, I don’t think I did a good enough job of integrating him in the right roles on the team here this year,” Los Angeles general manager Rob Blake said, via NHL.com. “You know, I think it wasn’t a great fit in that aspect for us, and we’ll take responsibility for that.”

Last year with the Kings, Dubois had 16 goals and 24 assists for 40 points.

Kuemper, meanwhile, was 13-14-3 with a 3.31 goals-against average, .890 save percentage, and one shutout in 33 games for the Capitals last season.
