Swedish defenseman William Lagesson’s wife Amanda took to Instagram on Saturday to recap the eventful year of their family. The TV personality focused on the positives with her caption.
“Three cities, a new home & time well spent with our favorite people,” Amanda wrote.
The ‘three cities’ is in reference to Lagesson’s journey through 2024. As the trade deadline for the 2023-24 season neared, the defenseman was placed on waivers by the Toronto Maple Leafs. He was claimed by the Anaheim Ducks and finished the season with them.
In July, Lagesson signed a one-year $775,000 contract with the Detroit Red Wings as a free agent. In 2024, Lagesson and his family relocated from Toronto to Anaheim before settling in their new home in Detroit, Michigan.
The post also mentions the time the Lagesson family spent with their favorite people, which includes father-son bonding on the ice, date nights for the couple and going out with friends.
Lagesson has bounced around between the NHL and AHL as well as North America and Europe in his career. He has skated in a total of 102 NHL games with the Edmonton Oilers, Montreal Canadiens, Maple Leafs, Ducks and Red Wings.
William Lagesson’s repeated call-ups to Detroit Red Wings
After signing a contract with the Red Wings, William Lagesson was placed on waivers in October but went unclaimed. He was then assigned to Detroit's AHL affiliate, the Grand Rapids Griffins.
Lagesson has been called up as a healthy scratch to add depth to the Red Wings’ defense. He has made just two appearances for Detroit this season. In the AHL, he has posted two goals and six assists in 20 games for the Griffins.
The low point of his season came when the AHL suspended him for three games in November after he attempted a chokehold on Iowa Wild forward Adam Raska during a game on Nov. 24.
