Ilya Samsonov gave a brilliant performance against the New Jersey Devils to help his team win narrowly, starting rounds of discussions about the player and his impact on the playoffs.
NHL analyst Craig Button joined Linz Hamilton and tried to answer the question: Has Ilya Samsonov emerged as Leafs' number 1 goaltender for the playoffs?
Replying to the question, Button praised Samsanov for his goaltending ability and added that when you watch what Ilya Samsonov has done, you know.
Craig Button said "I have every reason to believe that Ilya Samsonov should have no concern for the Toronto Maple Leafs going into the playoffs by his stellar play."

Button added that during Matt Murray's recent injury, Samsonov showed his ability while providing the Leafs every opportunity to win the game.
He also said that without Samsonov's brilliance, there would have been no second-period rebound.
Referring to Samsonov's third-period heroics against the New Jersey Devils, he added that it would not have been enough for the Devils had he not played his role perfectly in the game.
Button also said that Samsonov has been a steady enforcer and going into the playoffs. He added that Samsonov is the true starter for him, and the Leafs will not have to fear much with him on the ice.
How has Ilya Samsonov performed in 2022-23 season?
The 26-year-old has played 33 games averaging 58 minutes on the ice, has a 23-8-2 record, and is tied for eighth in the league.
He has allowed 2.15 goals per game this season and has claimed three shootout wins. He has been brilliant with saves, making 2944 of them against 3250 shots at a save percentage of 0.915.
He has played brilliantly in the last five starts, giving his team four wins while making 135 saves.
