In a recent exchange on X (formerly Twitter), NHL player agent Dan Milstein expressed his dissatisfaction with hockey equipment manufacturer Sherwood Hockey.
The interaction began when Hockey News Hub praised Sherwood Hockey, stating:
"Heard @sherwoodhockey is pretty good."
In response, Milstein took a dig at the company, replying:
"The representative for @sherwoodhockey must be the inventor of 'never call back and do not answer your phone rule'. Would not do business with such people…"
Milstein's comments stem from difficulties communicating with Sherwood Hockey about a potential sponsorship deal for one of his clients ahead of the upcoming NHL draft.
Milstein reached out to Sherwood about a deal. However, according to Milstein's tweet, his inquiries and calls to Sherwood went unanswered.
This lack of response led him to publicly criticize the company and state that he would not consider Sherwood as an option due to their apparent unwillingness to communicate.
Sherwood Hockey and major players using it
Founded in 1949 in Canada, Ice hockey equipment manufacturer Sherwood Hockey was once one of the most prominent hockey brands but had faded from the spotlight in recent decades.
However, several top NHL stars have recently made the switch to using Sherwood sticks, marking a comeback for the vintage brand. Most notably, young phenom Connor Bedard of the Chicago Blackhawks has started using a Sherwood stick model.
Other NHLers adopting Sherwood products include William Nylander of the Toronto Maple Leafs, Matthew Tkachuk of the Florida Panthers, and Alex DeBrincat of the Ottawa Senators.
The increased visibility of Sherwood in the NHL culminated recently when Montreal Canadiens rookie Juraj Slafkovsky was spotted using a Sherwood stick during a game against Florida.
"Marks a significant stride for Sherwood in its quest to solidify its position in the hockey equipment market. The brand has garnered praise for its dedication to producing high-quality gear catering to players of all levels," Matt Stathopoulos of Gear Geek reported.
The adoption of the longtime Canadian brand by these NHL stars signifies a growing appreciation for Sherwood's focus on high-quality craftsmanship and performance.
