The Utah Hockey Club name has been all but confirmed. Utah Hockey Club president Chris Armstrong dropped an interesting tidbit during Wednesday's media day, mentioning the team name was chosen based on fan wishes.

Those comments, along with earlier ones from forward Clayton Keller, have hinted the club’s official name could be Yeti. However, not all fans are thrilled at the idea of the club’s potential new moniker. Here are some reactions from fans on X.

“Yeti is so lame,” one fan tweeted.
“Utah Yeti sounds awful imo,” one fan tweeted.
“Be original, Utah,” a fan tweeted.

While some fans may be disenchanted with the idea of Yeti as the Utah Hockey Club’s official moniker, others took advantage of the opportunity to poke fun at the situation. Here are some hilarious suggestions for the Utah Hockey Club’s new team name.

“The Arizona Coyotes of Salt Lake City,” a fan tweeted.
“Salt Lake City Soakers loading,” this fan tweeted.
“The Houston Aeros?” Another fan tweeted.

According to the Utah Hockey Club’s president, the name cannot be revealed due to legal concerns. The new official team name will be unveiled when legal matters are settled. In the meantime, fans will continue speculating about what that team name could be.

Utah Hockey team might be in the best shape

Utah manager Bill Armstrong addressed the media as part of Wednesday's availability. As KSL reported, Armstrong did not hesitate to highlight the positive situation the organization is currently in.

“We might be in the best shape as an organization,” he said.

Armstrong’s comments come after the club’s controversial move from Arizona to Salt Lake City. Beyond the move, Armstrong has been part of a lengthy rebuild that started with hoarding draft picks and developing young players.

"We don't really have any bad contracts," Armstrong added. "We've got a cap room. We've got a boatload of picks. We've got a boatload of prospects that are knocking on the door to become NHL players."

His comments underscore the robust prospect pipeline the team has built while avoiding lengthy and pricey contracts for veteran players.

"We have assets and we haven't been afraid in the past to add better players," Armstrong concluded.

The remarks signal that the Utah Hockey Club could make further deals to enhance the team’s on-ice performance. Perhaps Armstrong and coach Andre Tourigny will wait until training camp is underway before deciding on major moves.

Beyond training camp, if Utah is within the playoff conversation, the club could be a buyer at the trade deadline for the first time in a long while. The standings will dictate what moves Utah ultimately makes this season.
