Former NHL coach Bruce Boudreau has alleged that the Vancouver Canucks warned him he would be fired if he continued to use Cameo, an online platform that allows fans to interact with celebrities and request customized video messages for special events.

In a recent episode of the "Spittin' Chiclets" podcast, Boudreau recounted an encounter with Canucks GM Patrik Allvin, who allegedly threatened him at the start of the 2022-23 season over his Cameo videos.

Boudreau said Allvin told him he could no longer use the Cameo platform, warning that continuing to do so would result in his dismissal.

“Patrik Allvin comes in and he says ‘and by the way, you can’t do anymore cameos. You do them you’re gonna get fired’,” Boudreau said on the podcast. “To me it was an innocent thing, I never said bad things about anybody.”

Boudreau served as head coach of the Vancouver Canucks for 14 months, leading the team for 103 games. During his tenure, the 69-year-old guided the team to a 50-40-13 record with a .549-point percentage.

Bruce Boudreau shared his game plan for Paul Bissonnette

During the podcast, Bruce Boudreau addressed a question about how he would have game-planned for Paul Bissonnette. He candidly stated that there was essentially no game plan for Bissonnette because he rarely saw the ice.

He said:

"Well, I'll start with Biz. There was really no game plan because he never got on the ice. So I mean, if we saw him a couple times in the first period, you'd worry about him, but after that, we get a lead, and then you never saw Biz on the ice."

Paul Bissonnette had a six-year NHL career, spending five of those seasons with the now-defunct Phoenix Coyotes. Throughout his playing career, Bissonnette averaged just five minutes and 18 seconds of ice time per game.

Boudreau, reflecting on Bissonnette's limited playing time, couldn't help but make a lighthearted remark about it.

Before becoming an NHL coach, Boudreau played for teams such as the Toronto Maple Leafs and Chicago Blackhawks. He has served as head coach for several teams, including the Washington Capitals, Anaheim Ducks, Minnesota Wild, and Canucks.

Over his coaching career, Bruce Boudreau has achieved an impressive record of 617-343-128 in 1,089 regular-season games.
