The Canucks missed their captain Quinn Hughes in their 3-0 loss to the Nashville Predators on Friday night. Hughes, who has been sidelined with an undisclosed injury, is nearing a return and will join the team for their upcoming five-game road trip starting Monday in Montreal.
During the first intermission of the Friday night fixture, young Canucks fan Hannah participated in a mini minor hockey game for kids at Rogers Arena. Following the game, she was interviewed by Canucks in-game host, Kat Stefaniewicz, where she revealed Hughes as her favorite player.
When asked why she considered Hughes her favorite player, Hannah replied:
“Probably because he's a defenseman and I like to play defense.”
She then asked Stefaniewicz if she could relay a message for the Canucks captain.
“Can you tell him that I said, ‘Get better soon?’” the young Canucks fan said.
Hannah also shared some advice for the Canucks as they prepared for the second period:
“Skate hard,” she said, earning a cheer from the crowd.
The Canucks failed to capitalize on a winnable game despite outshooting Nashville 10-4 in the second period on the night. Steven Stamkos scored the game-winner off a defensive lapse by Guillaume Brisebois, while the Canucks’ power play failed to generate a single shot in two key third-period opportunities.
