- Changes in the 2024 NHL All-Star Skills Competition
The NHL All-Star Skills Competition is the event before the night of the main NHL All-Star game. Through this event, the players showcase their talents to their fans and earn prizes for their efforts.
Formed in the NHL All-Star game in 1990, this event comprises various categories in which the players compete with each other. These categories included accuracy shooting, breakaway challenge, fastest skater, hardest shot, breakaway relay, elimination shootout and elite women’s 3x3 hockey. All these categories provide the players with a chance to show their skills to their fans and increase their popularity in the process.

Changes in the 2024 NHL All-Star Skills Competition
The NHL has changed the format for the NHL All-Star Skill Competition in 2024. For this year, there will be 12 players who will compete in multiple events. One overall winner will be determined after the event.
First, these 12 players will compete in 4 of the first 6 events. These events include Fastest Skater, Stick Handling, Hardest Shot, Accuracy Shooting, Passing Challenge and One timers. Based on the points scored, the top eight winners will advance to the seventh event, One-on-One The top six winners will proceed to the final event, Obstacle Course, from which the overall winner will be declared.
