Currently, the record for the most goals scored in the National Hockey League belongs to "The Great One," Wayne Gretzky. However, Alex Ovechkin, also known by the moniker "The Great Eight," is fast climbing the stairs to match Gretzky's record. On that note, here's a list of all-time top goal scorers in the league.

"The Great One" has cemented many hockey records to his name. Wayne Gretzky holds the record for scoring the most goals in the NHL.
He played in the league for 20 seasons and represented more than one franchise in his career. Wayne Gretzky has played a total of 1,427 games and has netted 894 goals with 204 (PPG) and 73 (SHG) in his career. Gretzky has won four Stanley Cup championships in his career.
#2- Alex Ovechkin (826)
Alex Ovechkin is the only active player in the league ranked second on the all-time goal scorers list. Ovechkin has played for the Washington Capitals his entire career.
"The Great Eight" is currently on his 17th season in the league and during that span, Ovi has played 1,342 games and has netted 822 goals that includes 299 (PPG) and 5 (SHG). Ovi has won the Stanley Cup once in his career.
#3- Gordie Howe (801)
Gordie Howe, also known as the moniker "Mr. Hockey," spent a total of 26 seasons in the National Hockey League.
The Detroit Red Wings legend played the second-most games in the league with 1,767. During that time, Gordie Howe netted 801 goals that includes 211(PPG) and 24 (SHG) in his career and won the Stanley Cup four times.
#4- Jaromir Jagr (766)
Jaromir Jagr is one of the greatest players to ever put on the the jersey of the Pittsburgh Penguins. He spent over 24 seasons in the NHL and played for over nine franchises in the league.
During that span, Jaromir played 1,733 games, scoring 766 goals that included 217 (PPG) and 11 (SHG) and also winning the Stanley Cup twice in his career.

Brett Hull, also known as "The Golden Brett," is widely considered one of the best forwards to ever play in the NHL. Brett Hull has had a career in the league with over 19 seasons.
During that time, he played for more than four different franchises and played 1,269 games. Brett Hull scored 741 goals with 265 (PPG) and 20 (SHG) and won the Stanley Cup twice in his career.
