Hischier has also represented Switzerland in several international junior tournaments and was the top prospect for the 2017 NHL Entry Draft, where he was chosen first overall by the Devils. Hischier's NHL debut occurred on October 7, 2017, and finished his rookie season with 52 points, which helped the Devils return to the playoffs after a six-year absence. He achieved a career-high of 80 points in the 2022-23 season. His exceptional two-way play led to a nomination for the Frank J.
