Nico Hischier is a Swiss professional ice hockey player who plays as a center and is the captain of the New Jersey Devils in the NHL. He began his professional career in Switzerland in 2015, playing in both the National League A and National League B. Hischier moved to North America in the 2016-17 season to join the Halifax Mooseheads in the QMJHL, where he earned the Rookie of the Year honors. Hischier was selected first overall by the Devils, marking the first time a Swiss player was picked first in the draft.

Hischier made his NHL debut on October 7, 2017. In his first season, he scored 20 goals and provided 32 assists, helping the team reach the playoffs for the first time in six years. By the 2022-23 season, Hischier achieved a career-high 80 points. He was nominated for the Frank J. Selke Trophy for his defensive skills and became the youngest captain in the NHL on February 20, 2021.

Luca played in the junior systems of SC Bern and EHC Visp. He made his NL debut with SC Bern in 2013 while still part of their U20 team. He signed his first professional contract with SC Bern on May 1, 2014, and played the 2014/15 season on loan at EHC Visp. He extended his contract with SC Bern through the 2017-18 season on December 21, 2015.

Luca signed a three-year contract with HC Davos starting in the 2018-19 season. On January 11, 2021, he was traded to EHC Biel. Luca has represented Switzerland at the 2015 World Junior Championships.
