Noah Hanifin is an American professional defenseman for the Vegas Golden Knights, as of January 2025. He was drafted fifth overall by the Carolina Hurricanes in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft after playing for Team USA’s U17 and U18 programs, where he helped win gold at the 2014 IIHF World U18 Championships.

Hanifin forwent the remainder of his college eligibility and signed with the Hurricanes in 2015. He made his NHL debut later that year, finishing his rookie season with four goals and 22 points in 79 games. He was also selected to the 2018 NHL All-Star Game and reached a career-high 10 goals and 32 points that season. In June 2018, Hanifin was traded to the Calgary Flames, where he continued to develop and signed a six-year, $29.7 million contract extension in 2018. He reached his 400th NHL game in 2021 with the Flames. On March 6, 2024, Hanifin was traded to the Vegas Golden Knights in a three-team deal, and shortly after, he signed an eight-year, $58.8 million contract extension with Vegas.
