Oliver Oscar Emanuel Ekman-Larsson, born on July 17, 1991, is a Swedish professional ice hockey defenseman who currently plays for the Florida Panthers in the National Hockey League (NHL). Notably, Ekman began his amateur career in Sweden with the Tingsryds AIF club of the HockeyAllsvenskan during the 2007–08 season. Later on, he played with Leksands IF before joining the Arizona Coyotes of the NHL.

Oliver Ekman-Larsson has also had a notable international career as he has represented Sweden on the global stage. Remarkably, he helped Sweden win the bronze medal at the 2010 World Junior Championships and was also the highest-scoring defenseman for the team at the 2010 World Junior Championships. Additionally, Oliver served as captain of Sweden's international team at the 2019 World Championships.

Oliver Ekman-Larsson was born on July 17, 1991, in Karlskrona, Sweden, to his parents Anika and Patrick Larsson. Notably, Ekman’s father played amateur hockey as a defenseman for Karlskrona IK. Patrick now serves as a general manager for Tingsryds AIF, a professional ice hockey team in Sweden. Moreover, in Sweden, Ekman and his father live in separate houses on the same lot.

Unfortunately, his mother Anika died of cancer in 2017 after a ten year battle.

Oliver Ekman-Larsson’ maternal grandfather, Kenneth Ekman, was a defenseman who represented Sweden at the 1972 Winter Olympics.

In addition to her, Oliver also shares a distant relationship with the Faglum brothers, who were professional cyclists.
