The Ottawa Senators, commonly referred to as the Sens, are a professional ice hockey team based in Ottawa, Ontario that were established in 1992 by estate developer Bruce Firestone. Importantly, they are the second iteration of the Original Ottawa Senators that competed in the National Hockey League (NHL)) until the 1933-34 season. As of 2024, this second iteration of the Senators compete as the members of the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference in the NHL while they play their home games at the Canadian Tire Centre. Also, they fall under the ownership of Michael Andlauer,, former minority owner of the Montreal Canadiens. Moreover, their day-to-day activities are taken care by general manager Steve Staios and coach Travis Green.

Furthermore, the present Senators boast a history that includes winning one Conference Championship in the 2006–07 season and securing the Presidents' Trophy once in 2002–03. Lastly, they have also claimed four Division Championships in 1998–99, 2000–01, 2002–03, and 2005–06.

Ottawa Senators Draft Picks Year on Year

Since the early 2000s, the Ottawa Senators have utilized the NHL Entry Draft to build their team, selecting a mix of notable players and those who saw limited NHL action. Key early picks include Jason Spezza (2001), who had a stellar career with 995 points in 1,248 games, and Erik Karlsson (2008), a two-time Norris Trophy-winning defenseman. The 2010s saw significant selections such as Mark Stone (2010), who became an elite winger, and Thomas Chabot (2015), a key defenseman. Recent drafts have focused on both immediate contributors and future potential, such as Tim Stützle (2020), an emerging star, and Jake Sanderson (2020), a promising defenseman. Other notable Draft Picks since their inception in 1992, include Alexei Yashin (1992), Chris Phillips (1996), Brady Tkachuk (2018), Cody Ceci (2012), Mark Stone (2010), Erik Karlsson (2008), and Nick Foligno (2006),
