Patrick Timothy Kane II, aka Patrick Kane, is a professional ice hockey right winger for the Detroit Red Wings as of 2024. His journey to the NHL began when he was drafted as the first overall pick by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2007 NHL Entry draft. Kane played for the Buffalo Saints 14U AAA hockey club, then shifted to Detroit, Michigan, to play in the Honeybaked 16U AAA hockey for the 2003-2004 season. During his time at Honeybaked, he scored 83 goals and 77 assists. Kane moved to the higher level in the Ontario Hockey League with a prominent team, the London Knights. They drafted him in the 2004 OHL Midget Draft. However, Patrick decided to play for the United States National Team Development Program in Michigan.

Kane made his NHL debut on October 4, 2007, against the Minnesota Wild and recorded his first assist and first shootout goal. He contributed 21 goals, 51 assists, and 72 points, making him the NHL's Rookie of the Year. In 2010, he scored the winning goal for the Stanley Cup and secured the first Stanley Cup for the team after 49 years. In 2013, he played an important role in the league, scoring a playoff hat-trick in the Western Conference Finals against the Los Angeles Kings. It was his second Stanley Cup Finals appearance and he led the Chicago Blackhawks to victory against the Boston Bruins.
