The Pittsburgh Penguins will look to bounce back from a 7-1 loss to the Dallas Stars on Monday when they face off with the Detroit Red Wings on Wednesday night. Heading into the game, the Penguins find themselves ranked seventh in the incredibly competitive Metropolitan division with a 6-9-2 record.
Similarly, the Detroit Red Wings, who are on a two-game skid, find themselves sitting in seventh place in the Atlantic Division. The division is currently led by the Florida Panthers, who are eager to go back-to-back in the Stanley Cup Playoffs after winning their first title last season.

Looking at the odds for tonight's game between the Pittsburgh Penguins and Detroit Red Wings as well as upcoming games for Pittsburgh
After signing future Hall of Famer Sidney Crosby to an extension this summer, Pittsburgh entered this season eager to make the most of Crosby's remaining years. So far, however, the team has struggled to find consistency, winning just two of their last five games.
In addition, thanks to a six-game skid that lasted from Oct. 18 to Oct. 29, the team has quite a hole to dig themselves out of if it wants to make a push for the postseason.
As the Penguins look to get back on track following their latest loss, the team has -140 odds to win tonight, while the Red Wings are +116 underdogs. Similarly, on DraftKings, the Penguins are -142 favorites to win, while the Red Wings are +120 underdogs.
To simplify these numbers using the DraftKings odds as an example, it would take a $142 bet on Pittsburgh as the favorites to win $100, whereas a $100 bet on Detroit as the underdogs would win $120.
Following its second straight home game tonight, Pittsburgh will hit the road for a game against the Blue Jackets on Friday, which will be the first leg of a back-to-back. On Saturday, the team will then return home to face the San Jose Sharks in the first of five straight home games.
