Tonight, the Pittsburgh Penguins will look to get back in the win column when they face off with a Florida Panthers team eager to go back-to-back as Stanley Cup champions. After kicking off the week with a win over the Islanders, the Penguins closed out 2024 with a 4-2 loss to the Detroit Red Wings on New Year's Eve.
Given that, the team will be looking to start the new year off on the right foot, however, it'll have a tough test against the Panthers, who are currently battling it out with Toronto for control of the Atlantic Division.
In addition to defenseman Owen Pickering missing tonight's game with a concussion, the team is also expected to be without veteran defenseman Kris Letang, who was placed on IR earlier in the week.

Looking at the odds for tonight's Penguins vs Panthers game as well as upcoming games on Pittsburgh's schedule
Heading into tonight's game, it should come as little surprise that the Panthers are sitting as comfortable betting favorites given how well the team has played this season.
On FanDuel, Florida is a -210 favorite, while Pittsburgh is a +172 underdog. On DraftKings, the Panthers are even stronger betting favorites with -218 odds, while Pittsburgh is a +180 underdog.
Should these lines remain consistent, it would take a $218 bet on Florida as the favorites to win $100 on DraftKings, while a $100 bet on Pittsburgh as the underdog would win $180.
Following tonight's game, the Penguins will head to Carolina for a showdown with the Hurricanes on Sunday. From there, the team will head back home to host the Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday and the Edmonton Oilers on Thursday before wrapping up next week by hosting the Ottawa Senators on Jan. 11.
