The Philadelphia Flyers are a professional ice hockey team based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Presently, They compete in the National Hockey League (NHL) as a member of the Metropolitan Division in the Eastern Conference. Notably, they share their home arena, the Wells Fargo Center with the Philadelphia 76ers of the National Basketball Association (NBA) and the Philadelphia Wings of the National Lacrosse League (NLL). Established in 1967 as part of the NHL expansion, the Flyers initially experienced minor success, making three postseason appearances in their first five years. However the following years saw them attain success with notable Stanley Cup triumphs and develop rivalries with the New York Rangers, the New York Islanders, the Boston Bruins and the Washington Capitals.

Philadelphia Flyers Conference History
The Philadelphia Flyers have won eight conference championships till date, in 1974-75, 1975-76, 1976-77, 1979-80, 1984-85, 1986-87, 1996-97, 2009-10. During these periods, the Flyers developed rivalries with several teams over the years, including the New York Rangers from the1970s to the New York Islanders around the same time, the Boston Bruins in the 1970s and 2010s, and lastly the Washington Capitals, since their days in the Patrick Division.

Philadelphia Flyers Division History
The Philadelphia have been part of different divisions throughout their NHL history. Initially, in 1967, they first started in the West division before moving onto the Patrick, Atlantic and metropolitian division. When they moved to the Patrick Division in the 1970s, they won back-to-back Stanley Cup Championship in 1974 and 1975. In late 1990s and early 2000s, the Flyers moved to the Atlantic Division but later moved to the newly formed Metropolitan Division in the Eastern Conference. In recent years they have continued to compete in the Metropolitan Division where they have made several playoff appearances.
