It won't be long before the NHL unveils the quarter-century teams for all 32 clubs as selected by a special panel.

After a panel selection and fan voting, the quarter-century team for the Boston Bruins will be revealed.

Here's a closer look at some names that almost certainly will be included.

Predicting Boston Bruins' Quarter-Century Team

First Team

  • Forwards: Patrice Bergeron, David Pastrnak, Brad Marchand
  • Defensemen: Zdeno Chara, Ray Bourque
  • Goalie: Tuukka Rask

Several of these names remain near and dear to Bruins fans. In fact, five of them were part of Boston's most recent Stanley Cup championship in 2011, a thrilling seven-game victory over the Vancouver Canucks that has often been heralded as the best Cup Final series in recent NHL history.

Additionally, four of the players at one point or another wore the captain's "C" on their jerseys. Currently, the Bruins are led by captain Brad Marchand, who succeeded Patrice Bergeron, who succeeded Zdeno Chara.

And finally, Hall of Famer Ray Bourque played nearly his entire career with the Bruins before being dealt at the 2000 NHL Trade Deadline to the Colorado Avalanche; he won the Stanley Cup with the Avs in the final game of his career in June 2001.

Rask, one of the best goalies in Bruins history, recently called it a career after racking up over 300 victories in a Boston uniform.

Second team

  • Forwards: David Krejci, Joe Thornton, Bill Guerin
  • Defensemen: Dennis Seidenberg, Johnny Boychuk
  • Goalie: Tim Thomas

Most of the above names are known best to the previous generation of Bruins fans, who saw the writing on the wall with Bourque's departure in 2000 that their team was rebuilding.

Both Thornton and Guerin are two of the top players in NHL history, though their tenures are mostly known for having played elsewhere. Thornton once eventually served as captain of the Bruins some years after being taken with the first overall pick in the 1997 NHL draft, while Guerin is one of the best American-born goal scorers.

Seidenberg, Krejci and Boychuk were part of Boston's 2011 Stanley Cup victory over the Canucks, while it was Thomas who backstopped them to the historic win and was even named the Conn Smythe Trophy winner as the Stanley Cup Playoffs' Most Valuable Player.

Krejci retired from the NHL following Boston's stunning loss to the Florida Panthers in the 2023 postseason; he had previously unofficially retired to play a year in his native Czechia before coming back for one final NHL season.
