Looking at Detroit Red Wings' season so far and upcoming games
As previously mentioned, Detroit got off to a slow start this season, losing their season opener to the Pittsburgh Penguins at home. Although they bounced back two days later with a 3-0 win over the Nashville Predators, they wound up losing their next two games the following week to the Rangers.
Coach Derek Lalonde then put Alex Lyon in net on Oct. 19 when the Red wings played the Predators in a rematch on the road. Lyon led the team to a 5-2 win before then shutting out the Islanders just a few days later.
In their most recent outing, the team managed to defeat the New Jersey Devils, who are sitting in second in the Metropolitan Division after a hot start to the season. With three straight wins, Detroit is are riding plenty of momentum into tonight's game, which will be the first of a back-to-back.
Following their clash with Buffalo, the Red Wings will return home for a Sunday meeting with the Edmonton Oilers. They will then close out the month of October with a game against the Winnipeg Jets on Oct. 30.
