Tonight, the Detroit Red Wings will look to start the new year off on the right foot after closing out 2024 on a two-game win streak. Following wins over the Capitals and the Penguins to wrap up last year, the team will head to Columbus for a game against the Blue Jackets to start the new year.

Across the ice from the Red Wings, tonight will be a Blue Jackets team that has won two of their last three and is heading into tonight's game after a 4-3 win over the Carolina Hurricanes.

Detroit is in seventh place in the Atlantic Division with 34 points, three points behind the sixth-place Canadiens, and two points above the last-place Sabres. Meanwhile, Columbus is in fifth place in the Metropolitan Division with 38 points, tied with the Philadelphia Flyers, one point behind the Penguins.

Odds for tonight's Red Wings vs Blue Jackets game as well as upcoming games on Detroit's schedule in the new year

With the new year underway the odds for tonight's Red Wings-Blue Jackets game are dead even on DraftKings. With both teams looking to pick up big wins to climb the divisional standings, bettors seem to be torn on who gets the win.

Considering both teams have -110 odds, it would take a $110 bet on either team to win $100 via DraftKings. Of course, considering these lines are even, don't be surprised to see some movement between now and the start of the first period.

Following tonight's game on the road, Detroit will head to Winnipeg for a game with the Jets on Saturday 4 before heading home for a four-game stretch that will see the team play the Ottawa Senators, Chicago Blackhawks, Seattle Kraken and San Jose Sharks between now and Jan. 14.
