Looking at Detroit Red Wings season so far and upcoming games

After narrowly missing the playoffs last season, the Detroit Red Wings entered the 2024-25 season eager to make a statement. While they won just one of their first four games to start the year, they then bounced back with a three-game win streak that saw them defeat the Predators, Islanders and Devils.

Heading into Wednesday's game, however, the team is riding a two-game skid that saw them fall to the Buffalo Sabres on Friday and the Edmonton Oilers on Sunday.

Currently, the team is sitting in fifth place in the Atlantic Division with a record of 4-4-1 and nine points, tied with the 4-5-1 Buffalo Sabres, Montreal Canadiens and Boston Bruins.

Currently, the Florida Panthers lead the division with a 7-3-1 record and 15 points, with the 6-3-0 Tampa Bay Lightning and 5-4-1 Toronto Maple Leafs in second and third.

Following Wednesday's game against Winnipeg, the Red Wings will host the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday, before then hitting the road for a two-game stretch. During their road stint, the Red Wings will play the Chicago Blackhawks on Wednesday, followed by the Maple Leafs on Friday.
