Roderic Jean Brind'Amour is a former Canadian professional ice hockey player and as of November 2024, he serves as the head coach for the Carolina Hurricanes. Brind'Amour played 20 seasons in the NHL for the St. Louis Blues, Philadelphia Flyers, and Carolina Hurricanes. He led the Hurricanes to their first Stanley Cup championship in 2006. Brind'Amour was drafted by the St. Louis Blues in the 1988 NHL draft. He earned the nickname "Rod the Bod." Brind'Amour played for the Blues and was later traded to the Philadelphia Flyers in 1991. He is known as one of the best shutdown centers in the NHL.

In 2000, Brind'Amour was traded to the Carolina Hurricanes, where he played a pivotal role in their 2002 Finals run. He was named captain in 2005 and led the Hurricanes to win the Stanley Cup in the 2005–06 season. Brind'Amour retired in 2010 after playing 1,484 career NHL games, and his number 17 jersey was retired by the Hurricanes in 2011.
