"We're still a week from the NHL trade deadline, but word is that the Patrick Kane situation will come to an end well before then. Except a resolution in the next 24 hours or so. I'm told that Kane hasn't waived his no-movement clause to faciliate a deal as of now. Stay Tuned."- Chris Jhonson
Patrick Kane is one of the most important names to keep an eye on in this tradeline. Many teams were interested in signing him, but now it's left between him and the Rangers.
New York Rangers will need help of third team to get Patrick Kane deal done
Patrick Kane has been linked with the New York Rangers for a long time. The speculation picked up steam Thursday (Feb. 23) night when the Rangers scratched forwards Vitali Kravtsov and Jake Leschyshyn from their lineup for roster management reasons.
According to David Pagnotta of TFP, who reported on the Rangers' move, two possibilties were suggested. One is that the Rangers are considering moving forwards as part of the Kane deal. The other is that other teams are interested in their services. However, the first possibility appears to be more realistic as of now.
He also reported that to afford Kane's massive salary cap, the Blackhawks would need to reatin 75% of Kane's $10.5 million salary, and the Rangers could also require help of a third team as part of the trade.
Pagnotta also reported that the Rangers will need to offload more than two players for a healthy cap space once Kane's deal gets completed. The trade is expected to be completed before the trade deadline next Friday (Mar. 3).
The New York Rangers have already acquired star player Vladimir Tarasenko. If Kane's trade gets done, they will have one of the best offensive lines going into the playoffs.
