Jakob Chychrun has been one of the market's most anticipated names to watch as the March 3 trade deadline approaches. The Arizona Coyotes defenseman has not played since February 10, having been scratched from the lineup for trade-related reasons.
Earlier reports suggested that the 24-year-old defenseman's deal could be announced at any time. Jakob Chychrun, on the other hand, has not yet left the Coyotes' camp. Many teams are still attempting to negotiate Jakob's services with the Coyotes.
The Pittsburgh Penguins are among the teams that have been linked to Chychrun for quite a long time now. According to TFP, the Penguins recently held talks regarding a potential deal involving Chychrun.
'The Athletic's Rob Rossi covered the story. According to him, Penguins head coach Mike Sullivan is eager to add Chychrun to the Penguins' blue lineup and has authorized discussions with the Coyotes.
However, Penguins general manager Ron Hextall is unwilling to include the team's first-round picks in 2025 and 2026 in the deal. So it remains to be seen whether Penguins general manager Ron Hextall will change his mind in the future.
According to Andy Strickland of Bally Sports, the Coyotes are unwilling to trade Chychrun in a hurry. Bill Armstrong, the Coyotes' general manager, is content to keep the defenseman at home until the Coyotes receive what they are asking for in exchange for Chychrun.
"Cost for Jacob Chycryn remains any combination of two first round picks or a first and a prospect that would equal a first. The #Yotes appear to be in no rush and will keep him if they don't get what they want."- Andy Strickland
Many teams have expressed interest in Jakob Chychrun as a potential addition to their rosters. Earlier, the Los Angeles Kings appeared to be closing the deal, but it was not completed because of adjustments made by either of the team owners in the trade package. However, according to TFP, the Kings are still interested.
The Coyotes' general manager understands how valuable Jakob has been to the team. It can be assumed that he is waiting for the right opportunity and the right club to fulfill his demands as part of the trade.
Jakob Chychrun's 2022-23 NHL campaign so far

After donning the Coyotes jersey for seven years, it remains to be seen which jersey Chychrun puts on next. The trade deadline will end on March 3 at 3 pm ET.
