The Boston Bruins are in menacing form in the 2022-23 season. They are at the top of the Atlantic Division and are the best team in the league with a 39-7-5 record.
Like other contenders, the Bruins have been shopping in the trade market to add players who can further help them in their quest to win the Stanley Cup.
NHL insider Pierre LeBrun has reported that the Bruins have inquired with the Arizona Coyotes about the availability of defenseman Jakob Chychrun.
Jakob Chychrun is a hot commodity in the trade market as the 24-year-old has shown great defensive prowess throughout the season. He has 27 points this season from 7 goals and 20 assists.
Other teams rumored to be interested in Chychrun are the Pittsburgh Penguins (fifth in the Metropolitan Division) and the Toronto Maple Leafs (second in the Atlantic Division).
The Bruins and Maple Leafs are the top two teams in the league and will be fighting for the Eastern Conference championship. If either of these two teams manage to land Chychrun, it will certainly give them an upper hand in defense.
The Boston Bruins made a serious push to acquire Jakob Chychrun at the deadline last season. They ended their pursuit of him after bringing in Hampus Lindholm from the Anaheim Ducks.
Boston Bruins look to maintain their form in the second half of the season
The Boston Bruins are the No. 1 team in the NHL with 39 wins in 51 games. David Pastrnak leads the Bruins in goals (38), assists (34) and points (72) this season.
Their most recent win came against their arch rivals Toronto Maple Leafs in a 5-2 match at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto. This was the third meeting between the two titans this season and the Bruins are currently leading the series 2-1. They meet again after the trade deadline on April 6.
The Bruins will take on the Washington Capitals on February 11 after a long post-All-Star game break. It will be interesting to see Alex Ovechkin clash against David Pastrnak in the battle of the centers. Both of these players have been relatively quiet in their past games.
