NHL trade rumors and speculations do not appear to be fading away as the March 3rd deadline approaches. After the Vancouver Canucks traded Bo Horvat to the New York Islanders on January 30th, numerous other major names and clubs made their presence known in the market.

The Edmonton Oilers and San Jose Sharks are among the most recent rumors to circulate. Erik Karlsson has been the subject of trade speculation and has been associated with the Oilers for quite some time. However, conversations between the two collapsed.

Discussions between the two clubs have resumed, and it appears that the Oilers are confident of landing the Sharks' defenseman this time. The Edmonton Oilers are currently in need of a defenseman who can feed their forward line and Karlsson fits that criteria very well.

According to Chris Johnson, who reported that talks between the two teams have resumed again for the second time. He also said that in order to make this deal happen, the financial situation can make the deal a bit complicated to happen.

Elliotte Friedman of "32 Thoughts", also responded to the report, stating that the Oilers would need to reduce Karlson's salary to $7 million in order for this move to go through. He also indicated that the Sharks would need to keep roughly $4-5 million of his $11.5 million annual contract.

It was also stated that the Sharks are willing to pay around $3 million for Karlsson's contract and are still looking for a package that will net them multiple first-round draft selections. Many insiders believe this deal is just a possibility and will have to wait to see how it goes.

NHL Trade rumors: Other players and teams rumored in the market

Another name that is heavily coming onto the conversation about NHL trade rumors is Jacob Chychrun of the Arizona Coyotes, whose trade announcement could be made soon.

Teams such as the Boston Bruins, Los Angeles Kings, and the Calgary Flames are among the top teams discussing the possibility of a trade for the 24-year-old defenseman.

Another player that is speculated to be traded this season is the Ottawa Senators' center Alex DeBrican. According to Friedman, Senators have received queries about the DeBrican from a number of the teams. However, Senators are not willing to let him trade until their new ownership kicks in.

Brock Boeser of the Vancouver Canucks has been mentioned in NHL trade rumors as well. According to Jim Parsons, a trade for Boeser would be unlikely until after Timo Meier is dealt, at which point clubs that missed out on Timo would look at Boeser as a good alternate option.

As March 3rd approaches, fans can expect to hear more names mentioned in NHL trade rumors.
