You would think the New York Islanders would stop at signing NHL star Bo Horvat from the Vancouver Canucks. But they are looking to add more pieces to their team in their quest to make a deep run into the playoffs.

According to The Fourth Period, the St. Louis Blues are looking to move 31-year-old forward Ivan Barbashev before the March 3 NHL trade deadline. Barbashev's performances this season have not been up to the mark, contributing to the team's 23-25 record.

Barbashev had a 60-point 2021-22 season, which was evident in the team's 49-22 record that saw them finish third in their division. However, the team has already informed him that it will not be renewing his contract going into next season, which makes his trade almost guaranteed.

Barbashev has been linked with the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Blues will be looking to add a young player, a prospect, and/or picks in exchange for Barbashev.

Most active teams during the NHL trade window

So far, the Vancouver Canucks and the New York Islanders have been the only teams involved in a trade. The swap saw Bo Horvat go to the Isles in exchange for Anthony Beauvillier, Aatu Raty, and a pick.

Before the March 3 deadline, many NHL teams are expected to be involved in trades. Here is a look at some of them:

Toronto Maple Leafs:

The Leafs will be big buyers in the offseason. They are already linked to players like Timo Meier, Jakob Chychrun, and Patrick Kane. They have a real chance at contending for the Stanley Cup this season and are currently the No. 2 team in the NHL.

Boston Bruins:

The Bruins are the best team in the league right now. They are interested in signing players like Jakob Chychrun, Luke Schenn, and Ivan Barbashev. Any new addition to the team will only make them more formidable.

New York Rangers:

The Rangers are expected to be a very active team in the trade market. They sit in third place in the Metropolitan Division. The Rangers are reportedly looking to sign either Timo Meier, Patrick Kane, or Vladimir Tarasenko, all of whom have big salary caps, which will be difficult for the Rangers to work around.
