Ryan McDonagh is an NHL defenseman and alternate captain for the Tampa Bay Lightning. He was traded back to the Lightning from the Nashville Predators in May 2024. During his high school years at Cretin-Derham Hall in Minnesota, he earned Mr. Hockey honors in 2007 after leading his team to a state championship.

Selected 12th overall by the Montreal Canadiens in 2007, McDonagh played for the University of Wisconsin before joining the Nashville Predators in 2011.
