The first round of the 2024 NHL draft is set for Friday, June 28 in Las Vegas, Nevada. One of the top players available is London Knights defenseman Sam Dickinson.

Dickinson is ranked as the sixth player heading into the draft, on TSN's Bob McKenzie's draft rankings. He projects to be a solid NHL defenseman as NHL scouts told McKenzie they are sold on him.

“Of all the top defencemen this year, [Dickinson] is probably the least risky pick,” said one scout. “He has great size, great mobility. Compared to some of the others [Levshunov, Buium and Parekh, in particular], his offensive ceiling might be more limited, but this kid is going to play in your top four for 15 years.”
“Dickinson is a complete package,” added another. “He’s not the most physical guy; he’s not the most offensive; he doesn’t have the best shot, but he still gives you a LOT of everything. He’s such an easy guy to project as a complementary player on your top pair or the lead guy on your second pair.”

Ahead of the draft here are three landing spots for him.

3 landing spots for Sam Dickinson in NHL Draft

#1, Ottawa Senators

The Ottawa Senators have the seventh overall pick in the NHL draft which is right around the range for Sam Dickinson.

Dickinson is a solid skater who can be a top-four defenseman in the NHL. He likely won't play in the NHL next season but another year of development in the OHL makes a lot of sense.

#2, Utah

Utah holds the sixth overall pick and has been linked to several players so it is hard to read them.

Utah has been linked to Dickinson and Zeev Buium most notably who are both defensemen, so if Dickinson is on the board at sixth overall it is a logical landing spot for him.

#3, Seattle Kraken

If Sam Dickinson falls past Utah and Ottawa, the Seattle Kraken will jump at the chance to draft the London Knights defensemen.

Seattle desperately needs to add to their defensive prospect and Dickinson can develop into a No. 1 defenseman.
