The Seattle Kraken are a professional NHL team based in Seattle, competing in the Pacific Division of the Western Conference. They were established after the NHL granted Seattle an expansion franchise, and they began playing in the 2021–22 season. The Kraken play their home games at Climate Pledge Arena.

The Kraken made their first Stanley Cup playoff appearance in 2023. In a remarkable first-round series, they defeated the defending champions, the Colorado Avalanche, in seven games, becoming the first team to win their debut playoff series against a reigning champion. However, their playoff run ended in the second round after losing to the Dallas Stars.
