Shane Pinto is an American professional ice hockey center playing for the Ottawa Senators in the NHL as of 2024. Born on November 12, 2000, in Franklin Square, Pinto was drafted 32nd overall by the Senators in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft. Before becoming a professional, Pinto played his junior career in the United States Hockey League where he played for the Lincoln Stars and the Tri-City Storm.

In the 2018-2019 season, he led the USHL in scoring and earned a spot on the USHL All-Rookie Team. Following his success in junior hockey, Pinto played collegiate hockey for the North Dakota Fighting Hawks, where he was considered one of the top recruits. He entered the NHL, signing a three-year entry-level contract with the Senators in April 2021.

Shane Pinto's parents shared that Pinto's Franklin home is filled with many memories of him even though he has not lived there for several years in an interview with The Athletics. His childhood bedroom remains largely untouched, with a New York Jets comforter on the bed and shelves lined with trophies and medals from his youth tournaments. Their house still has dents on the siding and garage door from when Shane practiced hockey as a kid.

"I guess it shows how much he wanted it," Frank Pinto says proudly, pointing to a big dent in the side of the house. Catherine Pinto laughs, "It’s funny, I think it’s hilarious as per The Athletics.

Shane Pinto grew up competing with his older sister Brianna, and they had some intense backyard games. "It was bad growing up. We were so competitive," Brianna Pinto told The Athletics. Frank Pinto claimed he had to step in when things got too heated.

Shane Pinto’s father is Fran Pinto. He played baseball and wanted his son to become an athlete. Growing up, Pinto played football and baseball. However, he faced injury and decided to focus on ice hockey as he knew skating. His father fully supported his decision to choose a different sport. Frank takes pride in his son’s achievements.

Shane Pinto’s mother is Catherine Pinto. She and her husband Frank Pinto took a loan to send their son Shane Pinto to South Kent prep school in Connecticut to pursue his dream of playing ice hockey. The Pinto family took a loan as the tuition at South Kent was expensive. Catherine mentioned they were a middle-class family, working hard to cover their bills. But they saw this as an investment in Shane’s future. His mother explained it was an emotional challenge to see him leave home at 15.
