Tage Thompson plays as a center for the Buffalo Sabres of the National Hockey League (NHL). He played for various youth hockey teams before being selected by the United States National Team Development Program (USNTDP) in 2014. He played collegiate hockey at the University of Connecticut (UConn). In his freshman season, Thompson scored 14 goals. He followed that up with a sophomore season in which he had 19 goals and 32 points.
Thompson was drafted by the St. Louis Blues in the first round (26th overall) of the 2016 NHL Draft. He made his NHL debut with the Blues in the 2017-18 season. He made his NHL debut against the Pittsburgh Penguins and scored his first NHL goal against the Edmonton Oilers. In 2018, Thompson was traded to the Buffalo Sabres. In the 2022-23 season, Thompson had a breakout year and was also named to his first NHL All-Star Game in 2023. He is under contract with the Sabres till the 2028-29 season.
