"They’re just absolutely ruthless" – Tanner Bibee calls out Yankees fans for getting his info wrong during ALCS bullpen showdown

Cleveland Guardians pitcher Tanner Bibee called out New York Yankees fans for messing up his personal information during last fall’s ALCS.

Games 1 and 2 were played at Yankee Stadium, with some Yankees fans giving the Guardians’ bullpen staff a hard time. In particular, some fans picked on Tanner Bibee.

But Bibee wasn’t upset about the heckling. He was upset about the fans getting his information wrong.

“They’re (the fans) like right there when you’re warming up. And, they’re just absolutely ruthless,” Bibee said on Sunday, via Rob Friedman's post on X.

Yankees fans are known to make life hard on opposing players. But, Bibee wasn't affected by it. He was, however, affected by the fact that fans didn’t know anything about him.

“But they got all the information on me wrong," Bibee said. "They thought I was like from Utah. And, said I went to something like mission-something high – I went to Mission Viejo – but they were like mission-something high school. ‘Like your boys in Utah are looking out for you.’”

Indeed, Bibee went to Mission Viejo High School in California, not Utah. Bibee was born and raised in California, nearly 700 miles away.

Bibee’s response to the Yankees hecklers was amusing.

“Like, who are you talking to right now? Bo’s from Canada,” he said.

Bibee followed up his funny quip with the following conclusion:

“If you’re going to talk about on me, at least do your homework.”

Perhaps the next time Bibee and the Guardians visit Yankee Stadium, the local fans will do their homework, so they know who they are talking to.

Tanner Bibee was born and raised in California

Bibee was born on Mar. 5, 1999, in Mission Viejo, California. The town is south of Anaheim and slightly east of Laguna Beach. The area is on the outskirts of the Los Angeles metro area, the most populated and thriving urban sector in the entire state.

Per Wikipedia, Bibee attended Mission Viejo High School and then attended California State University, Fullerton, where he pitched for the Titans.

Bibee pitched for the Wareham Gateman of the Cap Cod Baseball League, making him eligible for the 2020 MLB Draft. However, he went undrafted that year and returned to Cal State Fullerton for his final year.

The Guardians scooped Bibee up in the fifth round of the 2021 draft, bringing him up to the Big Leagues in 2022. Since then, he has been a mainstay of the Guardians’ bullpen, providing the club with a solid arm in late-inning, high-leverage situations.
