The NHL season is in full swing, and there's going to be a full week of action from Oct. 21 through Oct. 27. Plenty of games are on the schedule each day, although not all of them are as exciting or important to the overall league as others. Even though it's still very early, there are a few interesting and impactful matchups this week. Here's what to watch on TV this week.
Best NHL games on TV this week
5) Maple Leafs-Bruins

The Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins are among the most storied and beloved franchises in hockey. They will see each other in an early-season faceoff on Saturday at 7 p.m. EDT on Fubo and local television channels. It's one of the most exciting matchups this week, and it caps off a thrilling weekend.
4) Jets-Blues

The Winnipeg Jets are undefeated to start the season. The St. Louis Blues are one of the better teams. So, how much longer will the undefeated run last for the Jets? There's no telling, but the Blues should provide an early test. No team can go unbeaten through an NHL season, but the Jets remain a theoretical candidate. They will face the Blues on Tuesday at 8 pm EDT on ESPN+ as well as each team's local channel.
3) Panthers-Rangers

The New York Rangers are usually one of the best teams in the league. This season has been no different. The Florida Panthers are the defending champions and have started the season likewise. For an early-season matchup, it doesn't get a whole lot better than this. They'll play on Thursday at 7 p.m. EDT on the local broadcasts for both teams in Florida and New York.
2) Lightning-Maple Leafs

Today, there is just one game on the schedule. Fortunately, it's an exciting one. The Toronto Maple Leafs have, overall, gotten off to a very good start. They are 3-2-0, but the Tampa Bay Lightning are 3-1-0. These two teams are likely playoff contenders and look like the best of the NHL, and they're facing off in the lone Monday matchup on Fubo, Sling TV, and local channels.
1) Hurricanes-Oilers

Two teams that were among hockey's best last year and have been for several seasons, the Edmonton Oilers and Carolina Hurricanes will face off Tuesday at 9 pm EDT on ESPN+ and local broadcasts to each team.
Neither team has gotten off to the start they'd imagined, with neither ranking in the top five of their division. This matchup could be what jolts them back to form, and it is one of the best games scheduled this week.
