The Toronto Maple Leafs' preseason schedule is underway, with the team splitting games with the Ottawa Senators this week. After another first-round exit from the Stanley Cup Playoffs last year, the team is looking to finally clear the postseason hurdle and return to Stanley Cup contention.
While the team still has four more preseason games before the regular season, coach Craig Berube is working to finalize the team's depth chart and lines for the season ahead. Expectations are sky-high for the Toronto Maple Leafs in what will be Auston Matthews' first season at the helm of the franchise.
While questions still remain about their defensive lines, the team underwent a bit of an overhaul this summer as it replaced outgoing players such as Tyler Bertuzzi and Joel Edmundson.
Ahead of the 2024-25 season, this is the projected depth chart and line combinations. Please note that these could change between now and the start of the season based on how players vying for a roster spot fare in the preseason.

Toronto Maple Leafs offseason recap, looking at notable additions to the roster and outgoing players
Outgoing players: Tyler Bertuzzi, Ilya Samsonov, Ilya Lyubushkin, TJ Brodie, Joel Edmundson, Noah Gregor, Maxime Lajoie
New additions: Chris Tanev, Anthony Stolarz, Oliver Ekman-Larsson, Jani Hakanpaa, Philippe Myers
After struggling to make it out of the first round last season, the Toronto Maple Leafs entered into the offseason with their sights set on bolstering their roster. Most notable, the team needed to address two issues: its defense and depth at the netminding position.
With the addition of Chris Tanev, who is fresh off a strong season that saw him split time between the Calgary Flames and Dallas Stars, and Oliver Ekman-Larsson, who is fresh off a Stanley Cup win with the Florida Panthers, GM Brad Treliving managed to both add depth and high-caliber play to the team's defensive lines.
At the same time, with the addition of backup goalie Anthony Stolarz, the team seems to be trending in the right direction despite the loss of some notable players.
Currently, the team sits in fourth place on FanDuel's betting odds to win the Eastern Conference, behind just the Florida Panthers, New Jersey Devils and New York Rangers.
With Auston Matthews heading into his first year as captain, only time will tell whether the Toronto Maple Leafs are finally able to position themselves as true Stanley Cup contenders heading into the 2024-25 season.
