Trevor John Zegras is an American professional ice hockey centre currently playing for the Anaheim Ducks in the National Hockey League (NHL). Born on March 20, 2001, Zegras was selected as the ninth overall pick of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft.
He grew up in New York, and started his journey with the Mid Fairfield Rangers in bantam major hockey and later joined Avon Old Farms school's Winged Beavers of the Founders League (USHS). In his second year with Avon Old Farms, he joined the USA Hockey National Team Development Program where he earned a place on the Top 40 tryout in the team. Zegras later joined the US NTDP under-17 team for the 2017–18 season in the United States Hockey League (USHL), where he showcased his talent and skills. Zegras was later drafted by the Anaheim Ducks in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft but he decided to honor his commitment with Boston University
Zegras concluded his collegiate career in 2020, signing an entry-level contract with the Ducks. Zegras was sent to the San Diego Gulls, Ducks’s affiliate in the AHL. He was recalled to the NHL to make his debut against the Arizona Coyotes on February 22, 2021.
