Trey Augustine, born February 23, 2005, is a highly accomplished American ice hockey goaltender, playing for Michigan State University in the NCAA. A native of South Lyon, Michigan, he was drafted 41st overall by the Detroit Red Wings in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft, Augustine has established himself as a standout performer. He holds a single-season save percentage record for the NTDP and led Michigan State to its first Big Ten regular-season championship in 2024. Internationally, he has won multiple gold medals, including back-to-back World Junior Championships in 2024 and 2025, setting a U.S. record for most wins by a goaltender in the tournament.

Trey Augustine's early days

Trey Augustine began his hockey journey with Honeybaked AAA in the 2019-20 season where he posted an impressive 1.33 GAA and a .919 save percentage for Honeybaked’s 14U team as per Elite Sports. Progressing to the 15U level the following season, he maintained his exceptional form with a remarkable 0.60 GAA. Augustine joined the USA Hockey National Team Development Program (NTDP) in 2021, splitting time between the U17 and U18 teams. By 2022-23, he emerged as a strong goaltender, posting a 2.13 GAA and a .926 save percentage with the U18 team.
