The Vegas Golden Knights, based in the Las Vegas metropolitan area, are a professional ice hockey team that competes in the NHL as part of the Pacific Division in the Western Conference. Established in 2017 as an expansion team, they became the first major sports franchise representing Las Vegas. According to the NHL, Bruce Cassidy is the head coach of the Vegas Golden Knights. He has been leading the team since being appointed as their third head coach on June 14, 2022. Under his leadership, the Golden Knights have continued their success, including winning their first Stanley Cup in 2023. Cassidy previously coached the Boston Bruins and Washington Capitals.

Cassidy’s coaching journey began with the Jacksonville Lizard Kings (ECHL) in 1996, where he turned around the struggling team. He later coached the Indianapolis Ice (IHL), leading them to the playoffs. With the Trenton Titans (ECHL), he guided the team to the semi-finals in 1999–2000. He then moved to the Grand Rapids Griffins (IHL), where he won a division title.

Cassidy was hired as head coach of the Washington Capitals in 2002. Despite a playoff appearance in his first season, he was fired in 2003 after a poor start. He later served as an assistant coach for the Chicago Blackhawks during the 2005–06 season. From 2006 to 2008, Cassidy coached the Kingston Frontenacs (OHL). He joined the Providence Bruins (AHL) in 2008, first as an assistant and later as head coach. Cassidy led Providence to multiple playoff appearances, including a league-best record in 2012–13.

Cassidy joined the Boston Bruins as an assistant in 2016 and was promoted to head coach in 2017. He guided the team to the Stanley Cup Finals in 2019, where they lost in seven games to the St. Louis Blues. In 2020, Cassidy won the Jack Adams Award as the NHL’s best coach. Despite consistent playoff appearances, he was dismissed after a first-round loss in 2022. Cassidy was hired as head coach of the Vegas Golden Knights in 2022. In his first season, he led the team to a Stanley Cup victory in 2023.
