Vladimir Tarasenko is a professional Russian ice hockey player who plays as a right winger in the National Hockey League (NHL). Vladimir Tarasenko's playing career began in 2008-09 with Sibir Novosibirsk of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). He was 16 years old then but quickly made a name for himself as a skilled goal scorer.


He scored seven goals and ten points in 38 games in his rookie season. He was also a runner-up in voting for Rookie of the Year in the KHL's inaugural season. Vladimir continued to improve in his second season with Sibir. He also helped Russia win a silver medal at the 2009 IIHF World U18 Championships, where he was named a tournament all-star after scoring eight goals in seven games.


In 2010, Vladimir was selected in the first round, 16th overall, by the St. Louis Blues in the NHL Entry Draft. However, he remained in the KHL for two more seasons, playing for SKA Saint Petersburg. Vladimir finally joined the Blues for the 2012-13 NHL season. He made an immediate impact, finishing his first NHL season with eight goals and 11 assists in 38 games. He also helped the Blues reach the playoffs for the first time in three years.


In 2019, he helped the Blues win their first Stanley Cup in franchise history. In 2023, Vladimir was traded to the New York Rangers. He made his debut and scored his first goal for the team when the New York Rangers faced the Seattle Kraken. In the offseason, he signed a one-year contract with the Ottawa Senators. He is expected to be a key player for the Senators during the 2023-24 season.

By the age of 16, he was playing in the KHL among men, where he tallied 34 points in his first two seasons and captained Russia to a gold medal at the World Junior Championships.


Vladimir made his KHL debut for Sibir Novosibirsk in the 2008–09 season. He was one of the league's youngest players but soon established himself as the team's leading scorer.
