The Montreal Canadiens defeated the Buffalo Sabres 7–5 in a thrilling yet wild affair on Monday afternoon at the KeyBank Center.

The back-and-forth contest saw the Canadiens and Sabres trade leads throughout the game until Cole Caufield’s power play goal at 12:58 of the third period gave the Habs the lead for good. The Canadiens added an empty-netter to seal the win.

Fans took to X to express their feelings about the game.

However, not all fans were excited about the game. Some felt the game was a letdown despite the win.

“Wtf was that game,” a fan tweeted.
“That game was completely horrendous every which way besides scoring,” a fan tweeted.
“Primeau and the entire coaching staff are FRAUDS,” another fan tweeted.

With the win, the Habs snapped a six-game losing streak. However, they remain in the cellar of the Atlantic Division, one point behind the Detroit Red Wings for seventh place.

Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield scored two goals each to lead the Canadiens past the Sabres

Montreal Canadiens captain Nick Suzuki led the way with two goals. He scored twice in the second period to give the Habs a 4–3 lead heading into the second intermission.

Also, Cole Caufield added two power play goals to give him 12 on the year. Christian Dvorak, Emil Heineman and Josh Anderson had the others for the Habs.

Cayden Primeau got the start for the Habs. However, he was pulled early in the third after giving five goals on 14 shots. Samuel Montembeault took over, stopping all four shots he faced.

Despite the sloppy but entertaining tilt, the Habs returned to the win column. While the Habs were not expected to contend this season, the six-game losing streak stung fans. As such, it was nice to see the team get back on track. Hopefully, Monday afternoon’s win marks the beginning of a winning streak for the Habs.

Montreal will get a couple of days to recover. The Habs will face the Minnesota Wild on Thursday night at the Xcel Energy Center.
