Vegas Golden Knights v Philadelphia Flyers
Kieffer Bellows contract details

Philadelphia Flyers left wing Kieffer Bellows has signed a new contract for the 2022-23 NHL season with the New York Islanders, worth $1,200,000. The 24-year-old forward was born on June 10th, 1998, and has been playing in the NHL for four seasons, with a total of 90 games played and 27 points scored.

The Philadelphia Flyers claimed Kieffer Bellows from the New York Islanders off waivers in October 2022. He will be a restricted free agent at the end of the 2022-23 season when he turns 25.

This contract is the third that Bellows has signed with the Islanders, with a total value of $5,362,500. His previous two contracts were for two years each, with an average annual value of $894,167. This new one-year deal represents a significant increase in salary for Bellows.

Bellows was originally drafted by the Islanders in the first round, 19th overall, of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft. He has shown promise as a young player, with a strong scoring touch and a willingness to play a physical game. He has also shown versatility, playing both left and right wing positions.

Kieffer Bellows: A Promising Young Forward's Journey to the NHL

Kieffer Bellows is an American professional ice hockey forward currently playing for the Philadelphia Flyers in the National Hockey League (NHL). He is the son of former NHL player Brian Bellows.

Bellows grew up playing hockey in Edina, Minnesota, and won the Minnesota 2014 Class 2A State Championship as a sophomore at Edina High School. He played with the Sioux Falls Stampede and the U.S. National Development Team of the United States Hockey League (USHL) before being drafted in the first round (19th overall) of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft by the New York Islanders.

After playing with Boston University, Bellows signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Islanders in September 2017. He subsequently joined the Portland Winterhawks in the Western Hockey League (WHL). Bellows made his NHL debut on February 4th, 2020, and scored his first two NHL goals in the Islanders' 5-3 win against the Los Angeles Kings on February 6th.

In October 2020, Bellows violated the AHL's performance-enhancing substance rules. However, he rebounded in March 2021, becoming the first player in Islanders history to score his first four NHL goals in a pair of two-goal games.

Kieffer Bellows signed one-year contracts with the Islanders in September 2021 and August 2022. He began the 2022-23 season with the Islanders, but after being a healthy scratch for six games, he was placed on waivers and claimed by the Philadelphia Flyers.
